NEW WATCH TIMEZ | RM21-02, Redefining Lightness and Agility

Richard Mille, known for its emphasis on materials, unveiled its new RM21-02 Aerodynamic Tourbillon watch in early December, limited to just 50 pieces. The newly crafted RM21-02 fully embodies the brand's essence, showcasing concepts inspired by the aviation industry. Richard Mille is dedicated to utilizing engineering materials from fields beyond watchmaking, experimenting with substances derived from aerospace and Formula 1 racing, continuously testing their application in watch movements and cases. Compared to its predecessor, the RM21-01, the RM21-02 is not just a change in color but also a complete upgrade in materials, reimagined with even lighter components. The bezel is crafted from Carbon TPT® carbon fiber and green Quartz TPT® quartz fiber, while the middle case is made of satin-finished Grade 5 titanium. After undergoing meticulous processes, these materials exhibit extraordinary surfaces with regular wave-like patterns, creating the bezel’s distinctive appearance. On the left side of the dial is a 70-hour power reserve indicator, and on the right is a torque indicator. The baseplate, featuring a honeycomb-like orthotropic HAYNES® 214® core infused with CARBON TPT® carbon fiber, enhances the watch’s lightness with its geometric honeycomb texture. The bridges are constructed from high-performance Grade 5 titanium, offering exceptional corrosion resistance. The new RM21-02 Aerodynamic Tourbillon watch ingeniously connects the movement, case, and dial using special materials, creating a seamless and integrated feel. It sets the highest benchmarks in design, mechanical innovation, and material application within the realm of watchmaking.
