WATCHMAKER｜IWC XPL Tourbillon: Innovative Spring Protection System

IWC Schaffhausen's engineers have once again pushed the boundaries of haute horlogerie with the launch of the new Pilot's Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL, crafted from Ceratanium™. Our innovative SPRINg-PROTECT system is applied for the first time to a tourbillon—a delicate mechanism highly susceptible to shock damage. The intricate Caliber 82915, featuring a flying minute tourbillon, adopts a skeletonized design to reduce overall weight and is cushioned by a newly designed cantilevered balance spring. This groundbreaking achievement, meticulously developed by our experimental engineering division XPL, results in a technically masterful sports watch proven to withstand impacts exceeding 10,000 g-forces.
